Hello
I have a SMS Primary server on Windows NT4 sp6 and SQL 6.5. This server is also a BDC from My Windows domain NT4.
The hardware of this machine is bad ,and we have more and more sms clients.

We have buyed a new hardware machine and i want to migrate SMS SITE server to this machine.
By the same occasion I would like to benefit from it to pass the server on windows 2000 and SQL 2000 and SMS SP4 or SP5

My site server is SMS 2.0 SP3

Could you help me what i will do to migrate
thanks a lot

If I were you, I would install the new server with SMS 2003/SQL 2000. Make sure you pick a new site code too.

From here you have two choices:

1) Install the new SMS 2003 site seperate from your other SMS 2.0 site. Then slowly migrate the clients by overlapping your subnet boundaries. Uninstall the SMS 2.0 clients and re-install them as SMS 2003 clients of the new site.

2) You could install your SMS 2003 site as a parent site of your SMS 2.0 hierarchy. This way, you get a complete replica of you database. Then start migrating your clients.
