I've a Samsung NC10 with a 2GB memory upgrade running Win7U. Disk access seems to be the slow point - but is it the disk or the Atom processor making it slow?

Does anyone know if upgrading the HDD with an Intel X25 SSD would make a significant improvement?

Are there any problems having an SDD and using it as the boot drive in a Netbook?

No problems, I used to do that with my Wind U100 and an OCZ Summit. The SSD made the netbook faster, but there was much better performance improvements to be had from putting the SSD into my main desktop instead. I eventually bought a cheap SATA mechanical disk and put it into the netbook and moved the SSD to my desktop.

Can the netbook benefit from it? Yes.
Will the netbook make the most of the performance available from an SSD? Probably not.

Thanks. A very good point that the Netbook won't be able to extract everything that a good SSD is able to offer. Perhaps I'll fit an SSD, use the Netbook for a couple more years with the SSD and then swap back to the HDD before eventual disposal.
