Upgrade NDS to e-Directory

I currently have only NW4.11 & 4.2 servers running NDS. Because I am running bindary emulation on serveral of the servers, I have a lot of replicas. We are planning to upgrade to NW 6.5. Question:
What is the proceedure for upgrading NDS to e-Directory? Do I have to upgrade all my NDS replicas before I add a NW6.5 server? Or can I just upgrade one server, make it the master and then add the 6.5 servers. (Long range, we will be moving all users to the 6.5 servers.

That's a loaded question, but it's usually a safe bet to upgrade the schema for NW6.5, then upgrade the [root] Master replica server first.

You'll want to make sure your 4.1x servers are patched with SP9a AND DS7.62c. Otherwise you could have issues during the transition.

Of course, make sure your tree is completely healthy PRIOR to any major NDS change, and don't be afraid to spend a few bucks for a consultant if you get in over your head.
