No, but if you buy something other than a Backpack CD-ROM make sure you can find an OS/2 Warp device driver. Then you have to load the driver on the boot disk and edit the config.sys file to load the new driver.

the part that nortel used to sell ao617426 is a microsolutions 32x backpack i have used this and microsolutions 4x and never had a problem

I bought a 48X Backpack CD-ROM and had to insert a new device driver on the boot disk, but I probably had an older boot disk.
