Upgrade/move to new server

I need to upgrade my Backup Exec 12.5 to 2010. My Backup Exec 12.5 is on Windows 2003 32bit. We have just implemented Exchange 2010 and it requires Backup Exec 2010 on a Windows 2008 64 bit. So in order to backup Exchange 2010 I am being forced to move to Windows 2008 64 bit. Symantec has a support Document ID 352140 explaining a process to move from one OS to a different OS, but it says it is not supported. We are being forced to move to Windows 2008 64 bit, but it isn't supported??? Anyways, just want to know if anybody has been through this upgrade process from Windows 2003 32 bit to Windows 2008 64 bit and how it went?
