I am going to be doing a move from Exchange 5.5 on machine A to Exchange 2000 on machine B. Is there an easy way to do this change over? I am trying to get it set for a weekend change over. Any help would be much appreciated.
We have recently completed a migration from 5.5 to 2000.
It is a fairly simple process as long as u do the groundwork first.I don't know what your setup is but we migrated from 5.5 on one domain to 2000 on another.
Obviously make sure you have active directory installed and configured on the w2k server. Also make sure that you have atleast sp1 on 2000 exchange server (2 would be better)
Use the migration tool that is available from the 2000 exchange svr. Select migrate from exchange. In a/d don't bother setting up any new accounts, as the wizard will identify what a/c's are on 5.5 and create new accounts on 2000 accordingly. We only migrated 17 users and didn't have any real problems.
Microsoft provide loads of help on the subject.
If so install ADC
Create a Recipient Connection Agreement
Install Exchange 2000 and join the Org
Move mailboxes and rehome Public Folder
Remove 5.5 Dan
