Seems like a simple question... but which file do I drop into the "Software Repositories" in the web interface to upgrade the linux box (going from 8.1 to 9sp2). I have the ISO file from the support site. I am thinking I "add" this into the operating system and applications entry then go to updates. It has been about a year since I last saw one of these and it was the UCMod so feeling a little gun shy

Upgrading with the iso cannot be done through the repository, you need to burn it to a dvd and boot the PC with the DVD.
It will ask during the install if you want to upgrade or a freh install.
Upgrading within the same release can be done by uploading the upgrade .zip file in the repository.

thanks amriddle, very helpfull. Of course I am in the process of burning a disk now. And while I wait, why not ask?

I thought the apps server also has an option for uploading the upgrade with a http server. At least a server edition can on 8.1
9.0 has the option for uploading the iso now.
For now connect a monitor and keyboard (if virtual then use the console) and put in the USO and reboot the server.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks all,

for furture reference: going from 8.1 to 9.0(sp2) by booting from ISO on a DVD and choosing upgrade during the wizard crashed the box like I have read in other posts. Not sure why I thought mine would go different, but figured it was worth a try. Get a good back up off the the box, do clean install, then restore. This is what I had to do in the end and could have saved some time by going straight to it. It was a long night of waiting for downloads and file transfers.

Yep, you better had gone to 9.0 GA and then upgrade it further on.
Avaya quality control has gone trough the drain recently.
I was never scared of upgrading but i recently became scared on every upgrade i do on 9.0 :)
