I have a customer with a IPoffice running in basic mode, release 8.1. They wanted to expand. Got them a essential license. Could not load the new format, Had to upgrade to at least release 9. Downloaded release 9.0 of manager, attempted to upgrade, but all it says is "failed to upgrade". I noticed that the main ip 500 v2 module is version 8.1 but some of the other bin files are version 10.1. Is there a work around? should I recreate the sd card? any help??

The modules were named 2 versions ahead at that level. You will need an upgrade license to go to 9.0 You will need to go to File/Advanced/Change Mode to get it to essential edition or default the system and start over.

Nope. The chassis is locked to the version of the first call. It would be able to change the mode to standard IPO but not upgrade. Is this a PLDS license? If it is you probably just need to get a new chassis. I didn't even think about 8.1 may not support PLDS.
