I am busy setting up a testing environment, our existing domain is: abcdef.local the question I have does it matter if it is .local or should we have it the same our website with .com?
I have successfully tested upgrading from SBS2003 to Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010. In the Exchange 2010 install I used the typical set up(everything on one box), but now I would like to set up a edge box in the dmz. From my research this should be in a workgroup and should have a fqdn in the computer settings. As mentioned when someone logs in they log in as eg: mike@abcdef.local therefore the fqdn would have to be server.abcdef.local. I am just worried the .local extension will cause problem.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
