Upgrade from Merlin 820 to Legend phone problem

I had a Merlin 820 at my home and just upgraded to a Legend (mostly for fun and it only cost me $1.99 with 3 MLX phones) My problem is I have a 5 button merlin set in a second floor office and it works fine on the Merlin system. It also works fine on the Legend system. When I tried to replace it with an MLX-10D set and I changed to an MLX port the new set doesn't work. If I take the MLX set to the switch and plug it into the same port it works fine. When I switched the 5 button set back to the other card it also works fine. Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong. I even remade the connection the cable at the switch and remade the connections on the jack with no luck.

Did you try a different line cord? The MLX phones only need 2-pair, unless you have a DSS on an MLX20L or MLX28D, an adjunct or other accessory. Did you verify the polarity of the pairs?

I found the problem. It was actually a bad jack. Replaced the jack and all is well. Thanks for the reply.
