Haven't done one of these in quite some time, so just thinking outloud here.

Customer wants to upgrade from Legend R6 to Magix R4. Other than upgrading the power supplies to support the Messaging going in, converting and uploading the translations to the new proc. I should be good to go, correct? I know that if I plan on adding a TDL module that it goes to the next avail. slot on the right.

They don't want to go to TDL phones if they don't have to, so I need to verify that they can use all of their existing phones inclu. their MLX-20L, before I tell them "sure, no problem" and then find out I can't, lol.... I don't see why not.

Thanks!

You don't have to change any modules. They don't need a 412 TDL. Just upgrade the processor software to Magix R4, V7. Save a backup to WinSPM first and covert it to Magix R4. When you upgrade the processor - it will do a full erase start. So after you finish - put it back in the mode it was originally programmed in (Key or Hybris/PBX) - then restore the converted file from WinSPM. You should be good to go - with no other changes required.

I forgot to ask - if they have any BIS-type phones - you cannot upgrade to Magix R4 (the best you can do is Legend R7, V14.2). ATL modules are incompatible with Magix software. Also - if they have a 400 GS/LS TTR module - the GUI interface in WinSPM will not work anymore - but you can still use Standard SPM.

Glad you mentioned the ATL packs. Forgot about those.

As far as the proc. is concerned, we are going to remove the old R6 altogether and install a Magix R4 w/clamshell, so all I should have to do is remove all modules, fire the processor up and put it in the correct mode, upload the converted translations, power down, plug the other modules back in and call it done. Easy day for once ;)

You don't have to remove any other modules - just the processor (to swap them). Then fire the system up. If this was a used processor - and it does a cold start ("c" on display) - connect WinSPM - and do a full erase restart twice - to get rid of all programming, then switch the mode to the correct type - and upload your converted restore file. If the old R6 was a CKE3 or CKE 4 - you could have just loaded the new processor software on it - no real need for a new processor.
