We are on way to upgrade our system to newest CM3.1
We have two site running on main site G3r10 and G3si on other site. We planned to have an S8700 on main site and 8500 ESS on smaller site and replace current TDM with IP trunking. Also we have integration with Avaya Interaction centar 6.1.3(CTI) on current system. Does anybody had or have similar situation? Also does anybody have system with two or more sites over IP and an CTI integrated. How does it works. Any advise I appreciate.

We are close to being in the same situation you are GladniJura. We are upgrading to the S8710 servers from a G3R v11. I helped with an upgrade last week to give myself a heads up on what to look out for.

1. It seems the one most important thing to look for is the license files. If something you need is set to "no" then you are pretty much out of luck. It is not an easy feat to have this changed. The upgrade I sat in on had this very problem. Instead of being without dial tone for about 1 1/2 hours it took about 5 hours for the sets to get dial tone. Be sure your Avaya BP or Avaya (whichever is doing your install) looks at the licensing files very close.

2. Remove all data modules as close as you can to the upgrade. If your VM system or CAS or both are running on data modules, have these changed to an IP connect before hand. (Unless you are going to stay with a serial connection and install a terminal server). The more to be done the actual night of the cut, the more can go wrong. Have everything done that you can, before they arrive. If you have this pretty much ready to go, then they will be able to spend more time on the actual upgrade (replacing the carriers is the big time consumer here) and less with things that could have already been done.

3. Have all your packs that are programmable set to the latest firmware. Avaya is getting really bad about not even wanting to talk to you about any problems if you do not first have all the packs set to the latest firmware.

4. If you will do the above, it will make you cut go a lot easier. If you need help with your firmware downloads look at these.

That’s is just a few things that come to mind. If you need more please post.
