I have a client who wants to convert from 98se to Windows 2000. They've heard 2000 is a better platform for Autocad 2000 they are currently running. They also have one XP machine.

My question is, should we simple use the upgrade version to Windows 2000 Pro or is it better to save the data, re-format the hard drive and load a fresh copy of 2000 Pro. These are all Dell PC so finding the drivers shouldn't be a problem.

Please advise,

a fresh install is always the best way to go. upgrading an install can be very buggy and could result in a fresh install down the road. my personal experience has always been to just reload the OS and back up as much as possible. i would wait for another opinion on this though.
