We have currently upgraded our version of Progress from 9.1c to 9.1d and have noticed dramatic speed issues. We would be able to run a query previously and take about 5 mins to run, now on 9.1d this take 1 hour plus for the same query.

Do we need to re index the tables or are there any other suggestions?

HELP

If you use ADM2 I would expect a small performance degradation when moving to 9.1D, otherwise I'd expect a small performance improvement. Looks like you may have some serious indexing issues. You can check the indexes used in static queries by compiling with XREF. Alternatively, for both static and dynamic queries, have a look at the online help for the INDEX-INFORMATION attribute of the QUERY object.

There has been a TON of discussion about this on the Progress Email Group. Go to and search through the archives. I remember many different reasons being given, but don't remember what they were.
