Hi

I am upgrading to act 2006 from 6; everything seems to go through without a problem updating the database of about 3000 contacts; However, i noticed that a number of the fields from 6 which had been renamed never made it across to 2006; however, when i search for the data in the field, they seem to be in SECODNDARY TITLE, or other secondary fields; i tried looking for these fields in 2006 define field opotion to rename them and i can't find them.

Is this a problem with all update versions; will ihave better luck upgrading to 2007 or 2008 or will it be the same story? Is there away to correct this issue [ie, use map fields while transferring [which means i have to find all missing fields and i guess map them to new fields and rename, etc]/

thnx for any help

any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

If you renamed some of the "core" fields in ACT! 6, you can tell the conversion not to automate this process and to manually map each field.

thankyou for your response.

Seems like multiple core fields had been renamed in act 6 which is now getting mapped into secondary contacts. I am in process of reverting them.

I am trying to figure out what the best way to setup this database is. Act 6 was being used as a scheduling tool for patients; used company name for date of birth so that can distinguish between patients on the scheudling screen [if two have the same names]; also linked patients to the referring doctors via 1-1 contact addon.

Is there anyway to have act [any version] show the contact with a different field than Company on the screen for adding meetings, etc?

also, is there a way to link contacts together rather than linking contacts to companies only? [ie, have a patient linked to the referring doctor and primary care doctor and orthopedic doctor, etc?]

Any suggestion on opitmizing such a database.

Thnx for any advice

There are a number of add-on products that would add the functions you're looking for... you might find it better to have a Certified Consultant look at your specific needs and advise the best one for you
