Hi we have two servers...Sql 6.5 and Sql 2000.

Whilst many databases are on the 2000 we need to upgrade to the remaining few.

I tried to upgrade 1 database using the SQL UPGRADE WIZARD and it was successful. HOWEVER, the JOBS (backup jobs) which were found on the SQL 2000 were all overwritten by those of the SQL 6.5.

I cannot understand why...the JOBS all had different names! Do you know if I can bring back the JOBS I had as to manually do them again is quite a time consuming task!

And also how can we prevent this from happening again? Shall I generate an SQL script of the jobs before the upgrade?

Thanks

Jobs are held in msdb so you can restore a backup of that database.
It is worth creating jobs (and everything else) via scripts which you hold in SourceSafe - then you can always recrate them and have a history of changes too.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Thanks but restoring the MSBD wouldn`t affect other transactions done today?

The backup was taken yesterday!

Also, during the UPGRADE WIZARD, are there any options which we can set to avoid this.

Thanks

Mario
