OK, it looks like they're going to upgrade our MICS from 4.0 XC to 6.x (Non-XC). Since we already have the NVRAM cartridge in the slot, do we still need some procedure to preserve programming or is it just a matter of powering down, and swapping flash cards?

We have no Companion sets on this system so losing that functionality is not a concern.

If I'm missing anything here, please be specific as I'm still learning this baby. Thanks a million!

If you install an standard software you won't be able to activate more than 6 expansion module.

If you have more you should install XC version even if you don't have Companion system installed.

Good luck!

You should notes all your programmation. If you install an non XC version, he doesn't accept to upgrade to a non-XC software.

You will have to start a full configuration of your system.

I know that's more expensive for XC version but your customer will save on labor to upgrade his system.

Good luck!!!

Rapetou is correct, When going from XC to non XC, you will loose all programming, but if you go to a 6.0 XC, that is all you need. Backing up and restoring won't even help you if you go to non-XC.
