Upgrading from 3.6 to 4.0, the upgrade hung up during the "Prepare upgrade OS" step, which is the second step. After letting it sit for 2+ hours on that step, I tried to restart the upgrade. The upgrade allows me to input the IP address, and the password, and even configures the FTP server, but it kicks out after that.

The pre-upgrade check ran beforehand passed, and the upgrade procedures were followed.

Customers voicemail is down so any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried rebooting?

Are the 10 green LEDs flashing?

If flashing check for green caps on BFT.

If this is truly a BCM1000, there will not be a BFT. Although the old 2.5 BCM 1000 Portway 810 motherboards were known to have similar issues. Also, have you upgraded the RAM on the system? Are PEC IIIs installed on the MSC? What size is the hard drive? All of these may need to be upgraded before upgrading to 4.0.

All,

Thanks for the responses. It wound up being an issue with the PC on which the upgrade was being run.

I used a crossover cable to connect directly to the BCM, and the upgraded completed successfully.
