I'm new to Apache so I'll probably ask some naive questions here - apologies for that.
We have a Windows system running Apache 1.3.33 & we need to upgrade it to 1.3.41. Our suppliers have not tested their system with any newer version than that.
They have advised me "This is not a clean install and should not be treated as such, so should be an upgrade over the current directory." I take this to mean that I should not install a new version of 1.3.41 (which I could do). I cannot find any notes on the Apache site or elsewhere about how to do a partial upgrade.
I suspect my suppliers have misadvised me but I'd like some advice before I go back to them with questions. Does what they're telling me to do make any sense? Is it possible to do a partial upgrade - if so how can I do that?
I have an .msi of 1.3.41 which I could do a full install of & I unzipped apache_1.3.41.tar.gz which has some notes about running Apache on Windows but no indication about how to do a partial install. I've tried Google & cannot find any help anywhere which is why I wonder if they are misadvising me.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris
