We purchased SQL 2005 Standard as many of our reasons for purchasing 2000 Enterprise are now available in Standard (plus saved thousands of dollars). I ran the upgrade advisor with no issue, but when I went to upgrade, it says it's blocked because of Version issues.
I really do not want to have to install a named instance of 20005, then detach/attach into 2005, copy logins, etc as it's a pain AND I have to reconfigure all our apps to the nameed instance plus then have 2 versions running on the server.
I would like to upgrade to 2005 Standard. Is the only workaround to uninstall 2000 EE then reintall 2000 Standard, get that working THEN upgrade to 2005?
It was Microsoft's idea to "upgrade" the functionality in the Standard edition so why can we not upgrade since we purchased it?
