I have to upgrade an older Norstar 824 system to DR5 to support voice mail. The manual states I have to upgrade to DR3 before upgrading to DR5. I would like to do a seamless uprade, meaning I would prefer not to reprogram the system. I would like to get to DR5 without reprogramming. Is this possible. I have conflicting information ( I already have the DR5 software cartridge).

Well the conflict you are probably getting is that nothing is guaranteed with these systems. It really is not worth upgrading this system. The solution should have been go to a MICS System with a CP100 or CP150. If the system is only an 824 DR2 there really is no programming involved this is comparable to an old Merlin system considering that was really the only competition at that time. Just insert your DR5 And reprogram, If you had gotten it from us the support would have been free to reprogram the system.

To go to DR5 from DR2 ,without reprogramming, you must go to DR3 first then to DR5 , but as Norstarguru rightly says hardly any programming is involved, use the copy features to cut down on programming.
