Upgrade Crystal Viewer

I am trying to upgrade the Crystal Viewer from 8.0 to 8.5. I have searched the forums and have all the dlls (Crviewer, craxdrt, msvcrt.... etc) that I need in place, however when i run my application which runs on CRPE32, I still get the old 8.0 viewer to come up. Also the version of teh crviewer.dll is 8.5 , yet when i search the registry for keys containing that, I see only refferences to crviewer version 8.0, pointing to the dll which I know is 8.5. Does any one have any ideas??

I encountered a similar problem going from 8.5 to 9.0

First - try this:
1) Go into IE
2) choose Tools->Internet Options
3) choose the settings button
4) choose the 'view objects' button
5) Right click on any crystal entries and select remove

If that does not work, make sure that the crviewer.dll that is in the registry is the right one.

thanks for your suggestion. I did that but I didn't see any objects in the folder. I have never accessed the reports through IE..I also checked in the registry again, and the version in the registry shows 8.0, however if I go to Winnt\System32\crviewer.dll (to which the registry points to) and check its properties, I see the version of 8.5. Am I missing some DLLs?

myself - I would search to see if you have two copies of crviewer.dll on the hard drive. If you do, unregister the one that is the oldest and register the new one... ever do that before?

yeah, i have one and only, in system32 and its 8.5.

since the registry shows the 8.0 one, I would un-register the old one and register the new one --- again... or try a repair install.

do you have any idea where i can find a guide how to install or upgrade from 8.0 the Crystal Viewer manually? I do not have CR installed on this particular box, this is a client box.
