We are currently running Crystal 8 and have upgraded to Crystal XI in a test environment. Client browsers are accessing the reports on the server using the wcsinsapi.dll - which acts as a web server to load the reports without the client needing to install Active X or Java Viewers to view these reports.
It looks like Crystal XI no longer uses this. I have heard that Business Objects has a solution but I have been unable to find it on their site. I have found little information online regarding this particular issue when upgrading from v.8 to v.10 or later.
I uninstalled Crystal 8 before installing Crystal XI and it wiped out my Application Extension Mapping for *.rpt files. When these reports are loaded in the client, there is no application associated to *.rpt and the file opens in Notepad.
Is there a solution without the browser needing to install Active X or Java viewers? I can't believe I am the only person who has run into this problem!
