Upgrade Cognos from v7 to v8

Guys.

I assigned to a new role as a Cognos administrator. I have previous Impromptu and PP experience and now need to upgrade existing Cognos version 7 to Cognos version 8.
Could you help me and specify the steps I should follow for installation and how to do it with a minimum troubles and errors during and after the upgrade.
