upgrade causes php issue

Due to a breach in recent security breach, we upgraded our web server...

Now, with Apache2 and PHP4 I can no longer seem to parse data sent as part of the URL to the browser....

ie:

http://ourserver/ourpage.php?recno=123

Any quick tips here?

$recno = $_GET['recno'];

restored functionality to this page.
