I am upgrading a BCM400 3.6 to 4.0. This is my first NT to Linux upgrade.

I have just performed a remote Backup to my laptop. In case something in the upgrade goes south and I arrive at 4.0 with missing/corrupted data, will my 3.6 Backup restore telephony/V Mail to my new 4.0 platform?

Thanks

I just found the answer to my question...If the upgrade goes south I will have to reimage the BCM to bring it back to 3.6 before my restore feature will work.

Just make sure you run the upgrade pre-check beforehand.

If it fails anything except the system name and/or login and password, make sure you correct it first, or else!!!!

Also make sure you chage the date on the system to something pre-2007 so you don't run into the expired SSL certificate issue.

Outside of those few little items, these upgrades are well time tested now and if that pre-check passes you can pretty much be guaranteed a problem free upgrade. And make sure you read and follow the upgrade guide, especially if you have applications such as CC or IVR.

Good Luck.

I upgraded my Lab Box as the first-attempt-at-upgrade machine and other than having to use Putty to move directory files for CDR to a different directory because the upgrade said they exceeded 200m on drive D, it went smoothly.

No IVR but the CC skillsets seemed to survive. So next, I'll do a customer upgrade from a 3.7 box.
