yes it is done all the time the cost depends on your vender we only charge for the labor it is done via tape or disk but the tape take about 4 min to do and about 4 hours via disk on a pc
Yes, you can upgrade to the most current software release A.3.11.05. KenMeans is right about upgrading via a tape or diskettes and the cost is usually just the labor involved when you go through an Avaya BusinessPartner. I am not sure if it is something that can be purchased directly from Avaya. Maybe someone on this forum could answer that or maybe the Avaya.com website may be a resource to find a BusinessPartner in your area if your current voicemail vendor can't upgrade your system.
I'm in VAncouver... But since the latest version is 3.11 I'm doubting there are significant enhancements that would make it worth any significant cost.
Eventually i'd let to move to call pilot instead of the octel.
We are still installing them. They are the best thing out there that i have seen from the standpoint of reliablity and you can add any feature to the system that you need with servers to hook into email and the use of voice commands
upgrades within 3.x should be a maint item, labor charges only, check with your local vendor, you may also need more memory if its an older system
there was a PCN issued a few years ago for this but since being laid-off I only have access to the external support page which does not seem to have it listed anymore
