I will be upgrading a system with a acs 308 software version 6.85t to a new 509 with software version 7.0. I have been reading that if I was to upgrade the new processor to 8.0 I would be able to use the config from the original system in the new, is this true? If so could someone tell me where to find the 8.0 software, I have been to the Avaya site and I cannot find it anywhere on their system. I have the Eflash2000 software PM23044 V1.4.0 and have installed the upgrade files for Merlin and Partner ACS 6, but can't find anything for 7 or 8 ACS. I also have an Memory Card that the software can recognize that is 10 megabyte.

Yes, you can restore the R6 backup to a R8 processor. You will need to move the plugs around for the stations and lines. AVAYA never posted the R8 bin file. I have managed to pull it from a R8 backup card. I have posted my email address many times on this forum. If you do a quick search and find it, I can email you the bin file. I have been told numerous times that I can't post my email address here.

Earlier software releases of the Partner ACS R7 had problems. The final R7 was probably the best. Given that the Partner platform is discontinued, going with the R8 processor might be worth considering.

Okay,

After I looked at all of my Avaya Bin Files it seems that I download
PACS_R7_91_K.bin back 12-07 When I got them from the Avaya Support site. I also download Merlin and Partner ACS files R5 & R6. Does anyone know when the stopped putting up on there site, and or know where you can get them now. I Used the Eflash tools and made the R7 card with no problem. So if anyone knows where to find the R8 file I should be good to do this upgrade.

All you have to do is backup the R6 to the vackup/restore card, and install that card in the R8. When you power up the R8 it will grab the translations and convert them to R8 automatically. Then just backup the R8 to the card and you're done.

I think TTT meant to say backup/restore card. [bigsmile]

I have a Remote Access, Backup/Restore card in the R6 system, and can do a save to the card. But will I be able in replace the 308 ACS processor with the new 509 processor and restore the translations from the card with a R7.0 91O Processor?

Okay,

I I have 2 systems here one has R6 and the other is the New R7 509 processor. I did a backup to card on the R6 system, the Pulled it out and installed in the new 509. After I started and tried to the a Restore the the card with today's date option # 2 and I get a Incompatible Versions error. This is why I was trying to get the new 509 upgraded to R8. Is there anything thing else I should try?

Hi
It should work when you put the PCI (b/s) card in the new processor. Simply try to reboot the system but NOT WHILE TRANSLATIONS are loading. If going to a REL 8 you loose the analog caller id feature if booting from the PCI card
I would rebuild when upgrading the partner-ACS.
Too bad they do not make a baby or partner version of the definity (G3) Then that would have way to easy
