I have a customer who has a definity release 6 and is having problems with I believe to be corrupt software or bad processors they would like to upgrade system to newer release but the Business partner I deal with says they have to go to the s platform. This cust is going to Voip system in a few years (cisco). The cust has a console that locks up the loop keys a and b about every 2 weeks and they reset the system to clear I have replaced everything but the processors wire, console, and circuit packs

Why go to Cisco when you can do the same with Avaya and then much better ?

first question. is that Definity release 6 system a G3r? and if is, does the G3r run better on one SPE than the other?

Probably the operator kicking the power supply to the console under the desk. Use a UPS on the power adapter or even better, power it from the Aux Connector on the cabinet.

fjwhite, the Business Partner is correct, AVAYA is no longer supporting the older cabinets/technology.

Depending upon how many extensions you have, you could upgrade to an S8400 w/a few G650's, that would be the "cheapest" way to go, although not the best. If they have a redundant system now, you would have to go with duplex 8800's, (2) IPSI's, etc. The S8400 upgrade would allow you to use most of the circuit packs, but the big money is now in the station RTU licenses, which are going to be expensive either way.
