Upgrade a 3.0 to 4.0

I have a bad hard-drive in a 3.0 BCM. I don't have a 3.0 image. The upgrade guides say not to put in a higher release hard-drive, because some critical updates won't be applied. Is there anything else I can do?

Telephony services are up, but nothing else is. No vmail. Cant access system. Not a BFT issue either.

You could try power off the bcm,remove the lower faceplate and attach a monitor to the vga port. After power is back you will see if its a hard issue.
