Anyone know if this upgrade is a uninstall/reinstall or load MR2 on top of existing MR1? Documentation says uninstall/reinstall, couple consultants we have here say load on top - but kind of hesitate when I show them the documentation...

When using the same location, an uninstall/install routine will loose no settings.
After the new setup is done, you can fire off the service immediatly.

Of course exporting the full content store before upgrading, just to be 110% safe is always a good thing.

recommended by cognos is the uninstall/install option.

installing on top of it will work as well..

why not go the "official" way? uninstalling takes only a few minutes extra....

yes.. uninstall first. you may not run into problems right away if you install overtop. but in hte long run, you will run into stupid issues because of this...

Yet another option.

Install MR2 into a different and new directory. Configure everything including and point to the existing CS. Always make backups of anything that you may need later Ok.

If everything runs smoothly then you can delete the older directory that contains mr1. Make sure you disable the mr1 service first and that you configure a new Virtual Directory for your new version.
