Upgrade 740 to 1200 dpi

I have a Phaser 740 and would like to print in 1200 dpi colour. I already have 128 megs of memory and was hopeing that if I added the new firmware WITHOUT the SCSI card it would work. Has anyone done this? If it does work the next thing is to find a second hand chip or the code, so first will it work and second has anyone got these second hand parts for sale
