I have a cust that we are going to upgrade from 6.0 to R7 so they can have M Messaging. They have a CKE 3 processor. How do I get the upgrade? I know it's free from Avaya but do I need a special PCMCIA card or can it be downloaded on the backup card?? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know - it is not free - and it is a special PCMCIA upgrade card. Ideally, R7 should be put on a CKE4 processor - but it will work on a CKE3 (except for 16-port MLX modules). You will have to get the upgrade card from an Avaya dealer or similar source.

Thanks Tom- I f the cust wants to upgrade to the CKE 4 do I need to reprog from scratch or can the translations be migrated over?? Did you work for Avaya??

I don't work for Avaya - and yes the translations can be upgraded to R7 via WinSPM. First save the existing backup to a PC file via WinSPM - then choose to convert/upgrade the translation to R7. You can then save it back from the PC to the upgraded CKE3 or CKE4 processor.

Make sure you have tha latest upgrade to WinSPM...that you
can get free from Avaya..the convert part of the upgrade
depends on having a copy of WinSPM that supports the R7
upgrade..
Smart thing to do would get another processor...CKE 3 or 4
and have it upgraded to R7.0142. It helps to have a backup
plan...the processors are cheap...maybe one of the Avaya
BP's on this site can help you out....if they don't, won't
or can't....I will....I don't work for Avaya either.

I think the WIN SPM upgrade is only free if you have version 8 and need to go to version 9. Make sure the program prompts you for the "convert" utility or you don't have the right stuff.

you do need to have the WinSPM App already installed
on your PC or Laptop. All the upgrade patches are on the
Avaya website to DL. It just depends on which older version
you have.

I have such an upgrade card. I'll be glad to help if you are anywhere in southern California.

Sounds like dagwoodsystems and I have alot in common....
both have upgrade cards and in SoCal...take your pick.
I have both Legend 7.0142 and Magix 4.71 upgrade cards.
