Hello all, I have an upgrade from 2.2 to 4 and would like to push the upgrade out over the customers network without having to get cd's out to all the sites. I have done this before for dot release upgrades say 2.2 to 2.2.2 by using ftp. Has anyone done something similar to this while going to 4 and if so where there any problems.

Thanks

The only possability I know of is to use TFTP. However I have seen it fail too many times to sugguest anyone rely on it.

I have seen it work flawlessly on one occasion and on another the server would not even attempt to query the file server.

You can perform this upgrade via Web interface. Upload first the CD files onto the server including the pre-installation patch from 2.2 to 4

Then once downloaded, install the pre-installation patch first before installing the CM4 upgrade CD.

However I dont recommend upgrading LSPs via the Network because of a file corruption issues due to routing and switching (Depends if your network supports DS3 links). Especially if you are traversing high security networks with firewall, IDS, ACLs etc.

It would be best to go to the site, bring the CD CM4, CD-Rom, cables, the new license and authentication files and laptop with you.

Still everything is up to you =)

Keep in mind Avaya changed the format of the disks in 3.1.2. I did several upgrades to 3.1.2 across the network, and went to do another with a new disc and no tar file. I found a document claiming the change was to make the upgrade process "more efficient".
