I am trying to upgrade a 11c from 25.35 to 25.40. I have already upgraded the boot rom off the software delivery card. I have installed the new NTTK25AA Flash Rom and new memory. I then boot up off the delivery card and when I get to Main cabinet software installation, I choose # 2 (System Upgrade). Then select type of upgrade comes up and I choose # 2 (11c new software upgrade.) then I see 25.40 will be installed. Then I see select feature you wish to install comes up. I choose # 3 Enterprise Business. (this is what is on my key code sheet.) At this point I get (Error could't open file: c:/p/sl1/direct.rec) I can not go any further. Thanks in advance.

Download the software off of Nortels PIC site and flash the PCMCIA again. More than likely your SW is corrupt. They have the PCMCIA program tool and all the latest SW available for this. Good Luck

Thanks for the response, I made a mistake it was 23.35 to 25.40. I don't know if I have access to there site. I am a end user.

Imagine that....I have been just going through the same exact problem. There is an issue with the Boot ROM code that the 25.40 software dumps onto the NTTK25AA, and once this is flashed with the new 25.40 boot ROM, the card is toast. There is a debug mode on this card called FBUG, and this has some core level utilities to reflash the ROM or erase it all together, but unfortunately I can't even get to that point on the 2 cards I was trying.

Most likely you will see the system reload with an error message that says "Reboot Reason - H/W watchdog timeout" If you get this, go no further. You will need to get an older version of the NTTK25AA, or a newer one if they identify the problem and up issue the daughterboard.

If you manage to get a new NTTK25AA, leave it alone. It will come preloaded with 25.40B and your 25.40 keycodes will work on the 'B' version as well. In fact they will work on everything up to, but not including, R26.

Good luck!

I just today brought up a knew Option 11 and had the H/W watchdog boot error also. I did do the FBUG erase of the flash and processor. It did not matter, it did not work. I will order a new daughter board from NORTEL tomorrow. Thanks for the information. By the way this is the first time I have run into this problem and I have brought up dozens of Option 11s, both new and upgrades, in the last couple of years.

I went the new install route, and it worked. Thanks for all the replies.

We are at Release 23 right now. Do I need to upgrade to Release 25 to install the M3900 phones?

Yes to get the full 3900 functionality. You can put the phone out as a 2616, and get it to work a bit.....No way is this supported, but you can program some basic keys on it.
