Hi,
I get the following error when I connect to the Upfront Server through Server Administration console of Upfront (Series 7):
"Request failed, the server <<servername>> returned the following error. The user entered is not authorized to administer the NewsIndex".

I am connected as Administrator.

Can you please let me know the reason for this error...?

Thanks,

This is because upfront newsindex administration has been secured, and perhaps the your administrator account doesn't belong to the user class that is designated as a newsindex administrator.

In access manager, check what userclasses your 'Administrator' user has membership to, and compare this to the userclasses that are newsindex administrators in Upfront (although I guess this is hard when you don't have access). I'd check that your administrator account has membership to the root user class and try again.

Hi J,
The Administrator account belongs to the Root User Class in Access Manager.

Can you please let me know as to how I can find out which user class is designated as NewsIndex Administrator...?

Thanks,

Thats the problem, its a bit of a catch 22....

The only way I know of (although someone out there may know a way around it) is to go into upfront server administration, and from the Newsindex menu choose '--> Security --> NewsIndex Administrators' and then choose either 'Set Security' or 'Remove Security'.

The problem here is that you obviously don't have access to Upfront administration, but if you can find someone else who does, that's where you need to change your access. Alternatively, if you don't have a lot of user classes, you could experiment with giving yourself access to different classes and seeing if you get access. Sorry I can't be more specific, but its impossible for me to tell which user classes have been granted secured access at your site.

If you don't know anyone who has full access to Upfront administration, it might be worth getting some advice from Cognos.

Good Luck!
J
