I have Norton Antivirus 7.6 on Windows 98, Windows 98SE and Windows XP machines. I am trying to install Symantec 9.0.2. Windows XP are working fine with the install. I am having issues with the Windows 98 and Windows 98SE. I first uninstall Norton 7.6, install the root certificate update from Microsoft, then I try to install Symantec 9.0.2 but I have to install the exe twice before it takes. On reboot, I get dll errors. I repair Symantec 9.0.2 from the exe file. Reboot, then all works. Any ideas about how to eliminate these issues.
Thanks for any help.....I have over 5,000 clients to install!!!

Can't troubleshoot this one without more information. When you say "I have to install the exe twice before it takes," what exactly do you mean? What appears on the screen? What errors do you get?

Also, "On reboot, I get dll errors." What's the error message? What dll? In this kind of situation, it's always the specifics that matter.

When initially installing the exe file, I receive this notice "Install Shield Wizard Completed, The wizard was interrupted before Symantec could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." I install the exe file again and it installs. Then I reboot the machine and get these two errors:
"A required .dll file MSVCP70.DLL was not found."
"A required .dll file 12LDVP3.DLL was not found."
I go to add/remove programs, choose remove Symantec Antivirus. I can choose to repair the program, which I do. It repairs Symantec Antivirus. I reboot the machine and all my problems go away.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!
Thanks

The "The wizard was interrupted" error belongs to InstallShield. It's a really general error that doesn't tell you a lot. Try running \SSC\isscript.msi from the SAV CD--usually that will cause it to throw a more specific error, which you can then search on to find a more specific solution. Symantec has a doc on the error -- -- but you'll be better off to see if you can get a better error message first.
