Updating Profiles

I have a network that consists of Windows 2000 workstations, and NT 4 servers and my question is why won't profiles update? *Note these aren't roaming profiles. Every time I make a change to the profile settings on the server it will not update the client. I have to manually
delete the profile on the client machine and log the user back in to receive the new profile settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated =)
