I have alot of digital pictures burned off on a cd. My computer is running photoshop 5.5 (windows 98). The one I was using is having some hard drive problems and has to be replaced so when I loaded it onto my wifes computer (she is running windows XP) and open a picture off of the disk it says

"the file has been modified do you wish to: update or cancel.

If you click on either one, the box goes away for about 2 seconds and then comes back. If you click update and have the history pallatte open you can see it says it updated it but why does the box keep coming back? It makes it extremely difficult to do anything to the pictures without just dragging them onto a new document window. Any help you can lend on this would be greatly appreciated. So far everyone I've talked to in our graphics department I work in have no idea what I'm talking about.
Thanks, Ronnie Sockey

That is a new one. Is it possible that your color settings are set not to prompt you in case of a mismatch on your wifes machine? That doesnt explain why the dialoge keeps coming back but thats all I can think of aside from uninstalling photoshop, checking for win98 updates, reinstalling photoshop and installing the 6.0.1 patch.

You said your hard disk on your machine is in the shop? Is it possible that disk wrote a bad CD on its way out? Have you tried the CD in any machines at work?
