Hey guys,

I'm about to update from my old 4x4x24 Iomega Zip650 burner to a new one. Looking at either a Sony 52x24x?? or an AOpen one of similar spec.

The Aopen one is a little cheaper and has a 2 year warranty as opposed to only a year for the Sony.

Anyone have any experience with either of these - esp. under any flavour of linux? (I'm using RH9).

A friend suggested the Aopen (apart from being cheaper and with a larger warranty) as Sony sometimes nobble some of their products in an attempt to stop people doing illegal things.

I'm not really interested in doing illegal things but I don't like the idea of buying something that has been castrated in any way (like why I'm using linux.....).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards
