Hello All,

i need some help. i've had to make changes to a split db [mde]. the new tables have been put in 3NF. so, how do i go about updating the split db with the normalized tables and get rid of the old linked tables while maintaining the data and ensuring the most up-to-date data? i will need to split the db again.

any help you can give is appreciated.
thanks, stellJess

I'm not sure I totally understand your question, correct me if I'm wrong . .

It sounds like you had a split database, with a Front End (FE) and a Back End (BE). You were also using a mde, which you made from the FE.

You had to update the database, which you did by modifying the FE. In the process, you added tables to the FE to normalize the database.

So what you basically have now is a full database that was formerly just the front end, and a BE that is now useless structure-wise but contains your data.

If this is correct, I would import all data from the old BE into your newly written FE, giving you an updated DB which contains all your changes and your data. Once this has been accomplished successfully, split the database. You'll no longer need the old BE. - - - -

One more thing ..

After the split, make a new mde from the new FE. - - - -
