I have a legend R7 V9.0.

How do I update it to V14.2?

If it is a CKE4, I would just upgrade to a Magix - actually I don't know if there is anything else you can do (I think the upgrades within the releases were orange flash cards sent by Avaya for specific fixes that generally had to be returned. What are you trying to accomplish?

Legend processors are not all that expensive. You could simply purchase one that is already at that revision.

Just out of curiosity - why would you get another Legend instead of a Magix upgrade? You can get those inexpensively as well - I think I had one done for under $300 and then you have the "latest and greatest" so (God forbid) if you ever actually need Avaya they tend to know more about it - and the hardware that you have better matches the documentation thatis available on the Avaya web site - and you can go w/ TDL sets if you ever need single pair phones for certain apps (like the Multitech IP gateway) - that is just my thought process, but I have been wrong....many times....which is why I am asking.

Phonesaz makes a good point. Most Legend modules can be used with the Magix system.

If you list what modules are in the current system, we can tell you which ones could be carried over.

I can download the V14.2 Maintainance Release from Avaya's Website (for free).

I want to know how I can install it unto our system.

Taken right from Avaya's webpage.

"In order to copy these files to the PCMCIA card, you will need to purchase FlashTools Software from SMART Modular Technologies or another third-party software program.

Unlike eFlashTools, which only allows a single image to be programmed to a single time, FlashTools allows any image to be programmed any number of times. Using this tool, BusinessPartners can build a library of images they need and then program these images, as often as they need, without again accessing the Avaya eFlashTools Web site.

For pricing information or to order FlashTools Software, please call Smart Modular at 1-800-942-0018 and ask for Customer Service."

After you get an upgrade card you
1. back up programming twice.
2. convert backup to latest release if necesary
3. upgrade system
3. restore converted programming.
What is your reason for the upgrade? If you never did this before it is pretty risky to do it on a live system. When you upgrade it wipes out all programming.Your best bet wuold to call an Avaya Business Partner.

I would get the Magix, R4.0, V7.0 software instead of the Legend R7, V14.2. It will work just fine on your processor - and it it is the newest and last version release for the Legend/Magix processor series. You will need to do a backup of your surrent programming to a computer using WinSPM - and then you will need to convert that file to either Legend R7 or Magix R4 using WinSPM. The load the upgraded formware on your processor - and restore the CONVERTED file from your PC - and you should be all set.

If ITC's Legend has ATL telephones and modules, they will be lost if the system is upgraded to a Magix.

Does the system have any ATL hardware? [ponder]

go with the R7.142..it goes either way ATL or MLX....unless
of course you have the MLX..then I'd go with the Magix 4.71.
The one feature you will like about the Magix is the Daylite
Saving Time changer....lets you program the new dates.

Not sure why you need a patch - the programming to change to DST settings is pretty straightforward.
