Hello, I'm trying to study for CCNA and purchased 2 2501 routers on ebay. They both have IOS versions 11.x on them and I was attempting to upgrade to at least 12.x
I set up ethernet 0 with an IP and subnet and am able to telnet into it, ping it from my computer and vice versa. I installed a TFTP server and placed the .bin file in the appropriate directory. I ran through the steps outlined here, but the process always fails. Here is the output on the router:
System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 5895768 c2500-is-l_112-14.bin
[5895832 bytes used, 2492776 available, 8388608 total]
Accessing file 'c2500-is-l.120-10.bin' on 192.168.1.50... [failed]
and here is the error message on the TFTP server log:
Connection received from 192.168.1.60 on port 1431 [13/07 13:24:37.775]
Read request for file <c2500-is-l.120-10.bin>. Mode octet [13/07 13:24:37.776]
Using local port 56097 [13/07 13:24:37.806]
Peer returns ERROR <Session terminated> -> aborting transfer [13/07 13:24:37.875]
I've tried 3 different TFTP servers, 2 computers, both routers, different cables. It's basically the same generic error message every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm lost at this point.
