Hello,

I’m running NetWorker 6.0.2 on Sun Solaris and I would like to update to 6.1.3. How should this be done? Should I update the server or the clients first? When updating the server, if I remove all the 6.0.2 packages and then add the 6.1.3 packages found in the patch, will I keep all my current configuration and license?

Thanks for your help.

Update the server and your storage nodes at the same time. Clients can be done laterwards, but not critical.

Upgrading to 6.1.3 on Unix platforms is just binarry replacements. You will not lose any configurations, index, or media database.

I would like some more detailed info on how the update should be done. Should I remove the old (6.0.2) packages first and then add the (6.1.3) packages found in the downloaded patch or there’s another way to do it?

Thanks.

You questions are answered in the installation guide:

Yes, you will need to remove 6.0.2 before 6.1.3

You use pkgrm command to reomve the packages, and you remove them in the following order: LGTOserv, LGTOnode, LGTOman, LGTOdrvr, LGTOclnt

When you install the packages, you install in the reverse order.

Read the install guide for complete information.

I’ve just updated to NetWorker 6.1.3 and although the main window of nwadmin shows NetWorker 6.1.3.Build.428 when I click Help, On Version, it still shows 6.0.2.Build.251 NetWorker. Is this a known bug?

Thanks for your replies.

did you remove all the LGTO packages before installing 6.1.3?

Yes, I have removed the following packages: LGTOserv LGTOnode LGTOlicm LGTOman LGTOdrvr LGTOclnt as shown on the Installation Guide.

Thanks.

Here’s another question regarding my update to NetWorker 6.1.3.

When I was running NetWorker 6.0.2 and I started a directed recover from the NetWorker User application, the Source Client window showed me a list of clients to which I had remote access and the Destination Client window showed me the client which I had chosen to recover and my workstation. With NetWorker User 6.1.3 the Source Client window shows me a list of all the clients registered in the NetWorker server (including Unix clients) and the Destination Client window shows me exactly the same list. This means that I can’t recover files from one remote client to my workstation. How can I get my workstation as a destination client without having to register it as a backup client in NetWorker 6.1.3?

Thanks for your help.
