Updating AS400 Db from VB

I've just tried to open an AS400-Database with VB 5.0 over the dbengine-object and DAO. This doesn't seem to be the problem but as soon as i try to edit or update the DataBase the compiler shows a message which contains that I have opened the DB in read-Only-Mode (dbengine.opendatabase)
Which Constant have I to choose and for which Parameter? Have you an idea?
