Updating 2k & 2k3 machine patches

Hey, I have just setup my test enviroment with a 2k3 machine running SMS 2003. I am able to push down programs and get them to install on the 2k machine but I dont understand how to push down updates for the machines. I know you can look in the "Software Updates" bit but the machines are requesting any updates?!?!

Any help given would be amazing
