UPDATES DOWNLOADS NOT RESPONDING 1

I have XP Pro, sp3. Explorer 7. If I search the web there are no problems even if I visit Microsoft site but if I use the windows update it gets as far as the choice buttons then the message "INTERNET EXPLORER not responding".

I have tried searching MS site but cannot find any answer. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to get to grips with XP.

Have you set up Automatic Updates and does that work correctly for you?

Are there any clues in your Event Viewer?
