Hi, just wanting to know what ways are the other users updating there dats and engines. I've got my server automatically getting the dats from ftp.nai.com, i then have my clients tasks pick up these dats from a folder on my network. This is great as i won't have to check for new dats weekly, but what happens if a new engine comes out, can i get my server to check for a new engine and download it to a folder automatically or do i have to check for a new engine myself.

you might try making a mirror task on one of the workstations, if this isnt installed under the console, you can run setup and modify the installation to add it, it is not installed by default. you then can use the mirror task to save the files to a network location, which can be accessed by all the other machines. make sure you have checked they box (on by default) that says update the scanning engine if a newer one exists in the autoupdate properties. I think then they will also upgrade the scanning engine. in order for the scan engine to be upgraded the folder that contains the update must have the latest superdat file. FatesWebb

if you do what I suggested it is not my fault...

My technique for updates for McAfee.

If you are using VScan 4.5.1 the engine can be updated automatically or you could run the Superdat (sdatXXXX.exe) from a startup script
