Updates affect Veritas Backup Exec?

Hey

recently a colleague installed updates on the server as per recommended by Windows 2003 Server, since then backups have failed to work and the reasons point to;

Sharepoint #50070 Unable to connect to databse STS - config (something to do with timer settings)

Backup Exec Alert: Job Cancellation (Job: "Daily Full Backup") The job was canceled by user System. For more information, click the following link:
