Hallo All,

I am running sendmail 8.12.5 on a RH7.3 box. It has come to my attention that there is/are potentially bugs in this release, and I was adviced to upgrade to 8.12.10 / 8.12.11.

My question is how to do that. Just download the rpm packages and the rpm -Uvh sendmail-* ? Will I need to redo the sendmail.cf files? Any thing to consider, be carefull with? Any comments much appreciated.

Hi,

Download the latest rpm file. Backup your .cf file just in case. But it wont overwrite them. rpm -Fvh rpm_file. I just receive an email about another bug on sendmail today. So go dl the latest sendmail package.

Yes I think we both received the same email :)

Thanks for your help.

Quick question if I may - do I need all three packages?

sendmail-8.11.6-27.73.i386.rpm
sendmail-cf-8.11.6-27.73.i386.rpm
sendmail-devel-8.11.6-27.73.i386.rpm

If yes do I need to install in any particular order?

Hi,

check you system if you have those package? rpm -qa | grep sendmail. If you do use them, then upgrade is required. No particular order.

Hmm, when I do a rpm -Fvh sendmail......rpm nothing seems to happen. Do I need to stop sendmail somehow first before I do this?

Hi,

Not really. Try rpm -Uvh filename instead.
